What is Baobab?
Mostly found growing in southern Africa, various species of baobab trees are also found in Australia and the Arabian Peninsula. The rich fruit of the tree was sold in the Cairo markets as early as 2500 BC, and by the time that European explorers became interested in baobab fruit in the 15th century, it had already been used as a food and medicine source for thousands of years. Baobab trees are particularly long-living; in fact, carbon dating has found living baobab trees over 6000 years old.
