Sprout Living
Mind∙ful∙ness / ˈmīn(d)f(ə)lnəs / n. 1. The quality or state of being conscious or aware of something. 2. a mental state achieved by focusing one’s awareness on the present moment while calmly acknowledging and accepting one's feelings, thoughts, and bodily sensations, used as a therapeutic technique.
Mindfulness is a spiritual resource that is all valuable and free to obtain. Keeping you centered in awareness, mindfulness can keep you living in the moment - granting you the ability to better serve yourself and those around you, physically and mentally. This promotes the practice of taking things – daily tasks, obstacles and goals – day by day, which promotes feelings of peace, tranquility and balance. Depending on the level of mindfulness you can cultivate, you may completely remove stress from your life all together. As this state creates soundness, daily struggles will seem more and more obsolete as you gradually train your brain to process them more optimistically and opportunistically, seeing them as a learning facet for growth.

Mindfulness keeps you living in the moment - granting you the ability to better serve yourself and those around you, both physically and mentally.

Scanning your body and mind: In the beginning, to achieve mindfulness, it is important to scan the body and mind in search of what is mentally and physically hindering you. This is you discovering the direct root(s) of your problems so that they may be dealt with head on. Complete peace can only be achieved when you are fully aware of the energy flowing through you.
Yoga: Apart from mental practice, gentle yoga stretches can send your body on a closer path to mindfulness as it eases your body physically, while releasing stress mentally. With gentle stretching, you allow more oxygen into your body, all while encouraging blood flow. A simple 5-10 minutes can bring a conclusive deep sigh of relief.
Walking meditation: Walking and moving meditation is a great practice to connect with everything surrounding you. Many take this opportunity to get out; enjoy nature. All while you are quietly in your thoughts, this can actively create appreciation and acknowledgement for the things around you. Walking meditation can help you, also, improve your humility - as it increases the recognition that you are a small part of a huge, beautiful world around you. Walking among it, reading among it, writing among it, will increase your awareness and open up your heart central. Everything is sound, working together, and you are a part of it.
Sitting meditation: Sitting meditation is meant for the purpose of turning all of your focus inwards. These are the hindrances unseen, and we all avoid recognition of them naturally as humans; “Out of sight, out of mind”. However, as this may be true, the thoughts within our mind expand - especially when gone unrecognized - for a later date. Surrendering to mental awareness helps us release our mental chatter, encouraging feelings of peace, and action. In coming in contact with your subconscious, you can skillfully tend to what you are struggling with. As well as, recognize that you are your own problem, and also your solution. Quiet prayer and meditation can lift you up to where you are meant to be.
