What is Sea Buckthorn?

Despite its name, you won’t find sea buckthorn in the sea. Instead, sea buckthorn grows on a thorny tree native to Europe and Asia. Producing narrow leaves and small orange fruits, the tree is found in high altitude mountain areas, which forces it to develop adaptogenic qualities. Because of this, throughout history the tart berries have been revered for their ability to nourish, rejuvenate, revitalize and restore. In fact, sea buckthorn has appeared in legends from multiple cultures, including ancient Greek mythology and the chronicles of Genghis Khan.
